Ganfeng is advancing firmly with its Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policy as part of its commitment to guarantee the responsible management of all activities.
Our environmental management is based on the identification, evaluation and control of environmental aspects and impacts, in order to preserve the environment and protect biodiversity, commensurate with the production of a mineral strategic to clean energy generation.
We follow a wide-ranging environmental management plan, which envisages measures based on the efficient use of natural resources and compliance with national, provincial and municipal regulatory standards, aiming to preserve the environment in harmony with project development.
We apply a comprehensive waste management model that encourages participation in those socio-environmental changes deemed necessary to strengthen industrial development according to current sustainability standards. We perform multidisciplinary participatory monitoring as a priority tool to check on the progress of our projects regarding any environmental impacts that can be prevented and mitigated, in compliance with our Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
In line with the Millennium Goals, the Equator Principles, the provisions of the International Labor Organization (ILO), and other regulations, agreements and international treaties that promote respect for the rights of native communities, the company has established a social work plan in the areas of influence of its projects.
Ganfeng believes that harmonious relationships with communities are essential. For this reason, we support the participation of the State and the communities, as we believe in transmitting values such as transparency in management to build trust among the people inhabiting the areas of influence and strengthen local management. We pay permanent attention to the importance of dialogue and cooperation with both authorities and private institutions. We work to constantly promote local culture as part of the move to a sustainable future that fosters employment opportunities, the development of local suppliers, the continuity of cultural practices, and physical and mental healthcare.
The company discharges its corporate social responsibility with a focus on education, health, culture and economic development. It collaborates through actions to improve community and health infrastructure, providing support for recreational, sports and educational activities that create a positive impact throughout the communities living in its direct and indirect areas of influence.
Our company follows the guidelines outlined in its Corporate Social Strategy, aligned with the main standards and global requirements for environmental, social and governance management (ESG). After 15 months of community relations, we have begun work to draw up a baseline diagnosis as a precursor to formulating global ESG strategies and protocols. Based on this result, background work will be carried out to produce reports and sustainability strategies for the future.
Ganfeng works closely with the community and the State as part of its projects in Argentina, seeking to create consensus with the aim of setting up governance based tacitly on a co-management approach. Informative meetings are held periodically on topics related to its projects or activities in the region involved.
At these instances, the community—represented by the authorities designated by its members and other members of indigenous groups—may either express its approval or voice discrepancies, suggestions and concerns. We work together with the authorities as-and-when issues arise to immediately provide answers, bringing in experts who are specialized in each area and have no relation with the interests of the parties. The role of the experts is to present the relevant technical information as required.
The State is represented by national, provincial and municipal authorities, as appropriate to the issue or working group, through the Executive Power or officials designated for that purpose.
