Ganfeng Lithium was created in the year 2000 and is today the world's leading producer of lithium metals, with a presence on five continents, including operations in China, Australia, Mexico, Ireland and Mali.
In Latin America, Ganfeng is pursuing activities in Argentina, specifically in the provinces of Salta and Jujuy, where it is running five lithium projects. Some of these are wholly-owned by the company, while others are being managed together with strategic partners.

The country lies in the so-called "Lithium Triangle," together with Chile and Bolivia. This area, which has a large number of salt flats, is currently the world's largest known reserve of lithium and offers abundant resources and a good investment environment—the reason why the country is one of the most important mining bases for Ganfeng.
By the end of 2022, the company had invested in five salt flat projects in Argentina. These are the Mariana Project, which is managed by the local subsidiary Litio Minera Argentina S.A.; Pozuelos-Pastos Grandes, located in Salta, is run by local subsidiary Lithea Inc.; the Cauchari-Olaroz Project is controlled by Ganfeng’s business partner Minera Exar; the Incahuasi Project is being run by local subsidiary Ganfeng Litio Argentina S.A.; and the Sal de la Puna Project is managed by Ganfeng’s strategic partner Arena Minerals.
Despite the relatively short time that has elapsed since it arrived in the country, Ganfeng has already created thousands of direct and indirect jobs for the region, producing a significant and positive impact on local economies and community infrastructure.
